Bela House

Designed for a retired American couple seeking the African sun and wildlife. The property is situated in a Game Reserve in Bela Bela, a town famous for its geothermic hot springs. While the site does not possess hot springs, the history and contextual approach to the design became a key driver of the design.

The Architecture of this house intends to work with the landscape, the views, and the wildlife. The materiality is carefully considered to blend in the nature with the use of local stone, rammed earth walls, and wood. Complete integration into the natural environment will be necessary to allow the wildlife to be close to the new structure and for the joy of its occupants.
